Tenacious D abruptly cancelled their tour and "all future creative plans" after Kyle Gass made a joke about the assassination attempt on Donald Trump — but Jack Black has now promised that the comedy rock duo "will be back."
"We need to take a break. Everybody needs a break sometimes," Black told Variety. "And we'll be back."
He added that he's still talking with Gass. "Yeah, we're friends. That hasn't changed. These things take time sometimes," he said. "And we'll be back when it feels right."
Gass made a joke during a concert last month, saying that his birthday wish was "Don't miss Trump next time." After the show, Black cancelled the tour, saying, "I would never condone hate speech or encourage political violence in any form." Gass subsequently posted an apology (that he later deleted), and he was dropped by his agent.
