Architects Announce 'Daybreaker'
Published Apr 04, 2012It's been just over a year since UK metalcore kids Architects delivered their last brutalizing disc, The Here and Now, but the band have apparently gone through some major changes, which should be apparent on their upcoming Daybreaker LP.
The album will be delivered through Distort on June 5, and according to a press sheet, finds the Brighton-based group reinventing themselves. While past efforts took inspiration from teen angst and the duties of being in a band, the act have apparently opened up their eyes to deal with the weight of the world on Daybreaker.
"The lyrics on our previous records have covered personal issues but I think it's time we opened ourselves up to the bigger picture," guitarist Tom Searle said in a statement. "We're all so self-obsessed. If you're singing about your girlfriend breaking up with you, then you don't have any problems. Most people on planet earth aren't lucky enough to call that a problem."
Tracked by John Mitchell and Ben Humphreys (Enter Shikari, You Me at Six) at their Outhouse Studios in Reading, Daybreaker is said to feature crushing numbers about last summer's UK riots ("Devil's Island"), religion ("Alpha Omega") and America's political landscape ("These Colours Don't Run"). You can see the new video for "These Colours Don't Run" down below.
The quintet also invited a couple other metal vets to take part in the recording sessions, with Bring Me Horizon's Oliver Sykes guesting on "Even If you Win, You're Still a Rat" and Stray from the Path's Drew York contributing to "Outsider Heart," among others. You can check the tracklisting down below.
Architects are currently touring the UK and you can see their current gig schedule here. A Canadian tour in support of Daybreaker is said to be in the works.
