The live reputation of Apollo Ghosts precedes itself, noted as being one of the best in the business, and they did not disappoint this evening. They proved their commitment early and often, nailing the changes and breakdowns in their indie power pop and garage punk compositions for maximum dynamism, building the momentum of the crowd from passive gawking to circle moshing in the span of a few songs. Caught by the fervour, one gentleman went so far as to pour a beer over his own head while pogoing. Frontman Adrian Teacher looked like a mental patient in a white shirt and off-white pants, his hands gesturing in an exaggerated fashion when not playing his guitar and throwing a kick or two out there when he was. Unlike most bands, Apollo Ghosts were able to overcome being a little rough around the edges with their farcical humour -- shown in a paraphrased retelling of Music Waste's origins and Teacher's quotation of "Bootylicious" as he was being passed back to the stage after singing a song while crowd surfing -- and their infectiously upbeat energy.
