Amyl and the Sniffers have called out unwanted touching and incidences of sexual assault reportedly taking place at their concerts.

In an Instagram story posted last night (July 11), the Melbourne punks addressed a lack of respect for personal space that has transpired in the crowds at their shows.

"At the start of every live show I say, 'Don't touch anyone who doesn't want to be touched,'" the note from the band begins.

"If you can't hear that or learn that, then don't come to our fucking shows," they continued, making their stance clear. "We are obviously here to celebrate female/NB [non-binary] empowerment, so if you are not down with that, again, don't come to our fucking shows."

The note went on:

It's crazy that I even have to write this, but I am because I have heard some accounts of sexual assault at our shows this last tour (US, UK & EU), including once during the song [sic] knifey. If this has happened to you I'm so sorry and it's unacceptable. That shit ruins music for people. If you see sexism in the crowd call it out. Look after each other. The rest of the audience will have your back and we will have your back too.
