Former Swervedriver front-man Adam Franklin overcame a brutal (though thankfully short-lived) sound mix to introduce a new batch of solo material to a meagre but attentive faction of fans. A couple of restarts demonstrated just how freshly minted the dynamically arranged and mostly sparse and mid-tempo tunes were. They also displayed Franklin’s patient, respectful approach to his band-mates, and his commitment to present his music correctly, regardless how thin the crowd on hand. Though less sonically dense than most of the Swervies’ fare, some of the new melodic material was reminiscent of that band’s later titles, although decidedly more concise.
