88 Crash

Fight Wicket Pences

BY Greg PrattPublished Aug 1, 2001

I don't know who or what 88 Crash are, but it reeks of a side project. Fight Wicket Pences is a mishmash of sounds, but none of them enjoyable. Funky, groovy, hard radio rock with grunge-inspired vocals is what this band from Oklahoma offers, and I have no choice but to politely decline. The passionate vocals (Axl Rose meets a nu-metal goon rapping?) and pseudo-serious lyrics make this seem like it may have some emotion behind it, but the light-hearted musical vibe betrays that, confusing all in sight. In one ear and out the other, leaving nothing but a slightly aggravated listener and a slightly botched track listing.
