The early 2000s New York rock scene is due to be examined in a new documentary from Shut Up and Play the Hits directors Dylan Southern and Will Lovelace, titled Meet Me in the Bathroom, which is based on Lizzy Goodman's 2017 book of the same name.
Following its premiere at Sundance earlier this year, the doc will make theatrical rounds in the States next month before hitting streaming on November 25.
Promising "before seen footage, intimate audio interviews and a visceral sense of time and place," the film is said to be an "immersive journey" through what came to be known as the indie sleaze era — led by the Strokes, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, LCD Soundsystem, Interpol, the Moldy Peaches, TV on the Radio, the Rapture and more, "a new generation [who] kick-started a musical rebirth for New York City that reverberated around the world."

Set against the backdrop of 9/11 and a world unaware of the seismic political, technological and cultural shifts about to occur, Meet Me in the Bathroom tells the story of the last great romantic age of rock 'n' roll through the prism of a handful of era-defining bands.
