Arguably the most salacious book of the year, Lizzy Goodman's Meet Me in the Bathroom delivered plenty of juice on the rivalries and revelries of New York's noughties rock scene. While we've spent a long time daydreaming the best cast for a biopic, it looks like the book will instead become a documentary series.
According to Billboard, the book has been acquired by Pulse Films and will be developed into a four-hour docuseries. Will Lovelace and Dylan Southern, the duo who handled the LCD Soundsystem documentary Shup Up and Play the Hits, are attached to direct.
"At various points during the six long years it took to bring Meet Me in the Bathroom to life, it occurred to me what an incredible documentary this would make," Goodman said in a statement. "At the time it seemed like a total fantasy but it now feels like fate that the team behind Shut Up and Play the Hits, the show that gave me the idea to write this book in the first place, would be the ones to bring Meet Me in the Bathroom to the screen."
She added, "It's time to share with everyone else the full view of this weird, beautiful, dirty time capsule I've been inhabiting."
Meet Me in the Bathroom includes interviews with the Strokes, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, the National, Ryan Adams, LCD Soundsystem, Moby and many, many other staples of the 2000s New York scene. Here's hoping they all agree to be interviewed for the doc.
