We've been extremely excited ever since we heard the news that Tom Hanks would be stepping into Fred Rogers' cardigan for a new biopic. Today, new details about the Marielle Heller-directed film have emerged.
The biopic was previously titled You Are My Friend, but Sony Pictures has decided to go with an even friendlier name for the picture. It's now called A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood.
The film follows Rogers' friendship with journalist Tom Junod. In addition to Hanks, it will star Matthew Rhys, Chris Cooper, Tammy Blanchard and Sakina Jeffrey.
Look for A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood to hit theatres in October 2019. In the meantime, Heller is enjoying an awards-season run for her Melissa McCarthy collaboration Can You Ever Forgive Me?
