The 'Sex and the City' Reboot Is Happening Without Kim Cattrall

The rumours were true — the hit HBO sitcom Sex and the City is getting an official reboot at HBO Max.

The latest chapter of the show is called "And Just Like That..." and will star Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis. Kim Cattrall, who played Samantha Jones in the original series, will not return for the new series.

The series will begin production in New York this spring. It will be made up of 10 half-hour episodes. Parker shared a short teaser for the reboot that you can stream below.

Cattrall's absence from the show is not surprising. Parker and Cattrall have famously feuded for decades. When Cattrall's brother was found dead in Alberta in 2018, Parker publicly sent her condolences. "You are not my family," Cattrall said in a public reply. "You are not my friend. So I'm writing to tell you one last time to stop exploiting our tragedy in order to restore your 'nice girl' persona."

In an interview with the Guardian in 2019, Cattrall reiterated that she would not take part in any kind of reunion. "I don't want to be in a situation for even an hour where I'm not enjoying myself," she said.
