The National Release 'I Am Easy to Find' Short Film

BY Sarah MurphyPublished May 13, 2019

The National have been teasing their upcoming album and short film I Am Easy to Find with audio and visual clips, but now the album's full companion film has been unveiled.

Directed by Mike Mills, the film stars Academy Award winner Alicia Vikander.

The 24-minute film features new music by the National, but it isn't a typical music video. Rather, the film is inspired by the band's forthcoming 68-minute album.

Mills described the projects as "playfully hostile siblings that love to steal from each other."

A press release clarified, that "they share music and words and DNA and impulses and a vision about what it means to be human in 2019, but don't necessarily need one another."

I Am Easy to Find (the album) arrives this Friday (May 17) via 4AD, but I Am Easy to Find (the film) is available to stream in its entirety right now.

Watch it below, as well as versions with commentary by Mills and National frontman Matt Berninger. There's also a film Q&A session featuring Julien Baker.

The National will embark on a world tour, complete with Canadian dates, this summer.
