The National Announce 'I Am Easy to Find' LP, Share New Song
After announcing a string of intimate international shows, the National have revealed plans for their next album. Titled I Am Easy to Find, the LP will be out May 17 via 4AD, and with it will come a sprawling world tour, complete with new Canadian dates.
The album marks the follow-up to 2017's Sleep Well Beast and was recorded mostly at the band's Long Pond studio in Hudson Valley, NY, though additional sessions happened in Paris, Berlin, Cincinnati, Austin, Dublin and Brooklyn.
Collaborators on the forthcoming LP include Gail Ann Dorsey, Sharon Van Etten, Brooklyn Youth Chorus, Lisa Hannigan, Mina Tindle and Kate Stables.
"Yes, there are a lot of women singing on this, but it wasn't because, 'Oh, let's have more women's voices,'" frontman Matt Berninger said in a statement. "It was more, 'Let's have more of a fabric of people's identities.' It would have been better to have had other male singers, but my ego wouldn't let that happen."
The album was co-produced by the band and director Mike Mills (20th Century Women, Beginners), who also directed a short companion film. Also titled I Am Easy to Find, the short film stars Alicia Vikander.

In a press release, Mills clarified that the album is not the soundtrack for the film and the film is not a music video for the album, but rather described the two intertwined projects as "playfully hostile siblings that love to steal from each other."
See the full tracklisting for I Am Easy to Find below, and stream the lead single and opening track "You Had Your Soul with You." There's also a trailer for Mills' film.

The album is available for pre-order here.
The National have also mapped out a full world tour in support of the album with support from Courtney Barnett and Alvvays. It includes additional Canadian dates in Hamilton, Montreal and Vancouver. See their upcoming itinerary below, as well.
