The LeVar Burton-Hosted 'Trivial Pursuit' Game Show Is Finally in the Works

Two years after we first heard whispers of LeVar Burton's righteous return to game show hosting after being stiffed by Jeopardy!, the CW has finally shifted a Trivial Pursuit series into gear.

As Deadline reports, the network is ready to close the deal, with Burton executive producing the series — via eOne (previously owned by Hasbro, which owns the TP IP) through his LeVar Burton Entertainment banner.

"[Game shows] are probably the most expensive to launch. They require some marketing dollars. If you don't have that IP, how do we do it?" The CW's unscripted chief Heather Olander told Deadline earlier this year, hinting that the Trivial Pursuit launch would bring "some IP along with it."

Burton first expressed an interest in hosting another game show after losing his bid for Jeopardy! to the now-infamous Mike Richards, telling Trevor Noah, "We're trying to figure out what the right game show for LeVar Burton would be."

Later that year, his involvement with Trivial Pursuit was revealed, with Burton sharing in a statement, "Trivial Pursuit is one of the best-known brands in the gaming universe. I am thrilled to have partnered with Hasbro and eOne to bring this beloved game to market as a premium show for television."

No word yet on a release schedule.
