Social Media Demands 'Cats' Producers "Release the Butthole Cut" After Learning Sphincters Were Digitally Removed

It all started when writer Jack Waz revealed that his visual effects worker friend was hired to remove CGI buttholes from the anthropomorphic cats in the Tom Hooper-directed film:
A VFX producer friend of a friend was hired in November to finish some of the 400 effects shots in @catsmovie. His entire job was to remove CGI buttholes that had been inserted a few months before. Which means that, somewhere out there, there exists a butthole cut of Cats

Jack then jokingly launched the hashtag #ReleaseTheButtholeCut with a follow-up post:
Finding this cut is my white whale #ReleaseTheButtholeCut

That said, #ReleaseTheButtholeCut could not be contained to one mere joke tweet, and thus a movement was born with even Knives Out director Rian Johnson getting involved:
#ReleaseTheButtholeCut is exactly what we all need right now https://t.co/BhaROTRqLM

Seth Rogen, too, concluded his stoned live-tweet with a call for the butthole cut:
Release the Butthole Cut of Cats!! https://t.co/C2VgPqSv1L

Those two aren't alone, however. Read some more tweets from this burgeoning movement below.

When I saw CATS as a child, I found it disturbing. Not quite terrifying, but disturbing.

When the movie was announced, I ignored it.
But now that I see it's all a social experiment -- now that I get the joke -- I dig it.
But I won't watch it until they #releasethebuttholecut https://t.co/ffGC42vhTy

The fact that I woke up to #ReleaseTheButtholeCut trending, and that said hashtag is in reference to CATS, makes me think we'll be able to get through this nightmare. This is humanity at its best.
