Last June, Donald Glover's beloved Atlanta was renewed by FX for a third season. However, the network is telling viewers not to expect the latest batch of episodes to arrive anytime soon.
As Deadline reports, FX CEO John Landgraf cited the schedules of both Glover and the show's other cast members. Glover is set to tour as Childish Gambino in Europe next month and has already been locked in for the 2019 edition of Bonnaroo.
"Donald Glover is sort of the king of all media, and he just has had an incredibly complicated life," Landgraf explained. "He's had personal things he's had to deal with, from injuries to other things I'd rather not say publicly that just have to do with not with his personal life but his extended family."
He added, "We have so many programs that don't cycle back on an annual basis. You have to make a decision about quality over quantity and we're erring on the side of quality."
As things currently stand, it's unclear when Atlanta Season 3 will actually return.
In December, Glover revealed that his father had passed away late last year.
