In 2012, the rough and tumble hockey comedy Goon mercilessly pummelled its way into our hearts and now, following a three-year break, the film is finally set for a sequel.
The news comes via a recent Reddit AMA with star Seann William Scott, who confirmed that he's been training to reprise his role as the film's loveable face-puncher Doug Glatt.
"For GOON 2, I've been fight-training for the past month, and next month in May I start working with an MMA fighter, and then some skating (obviously, a lot of skating)," he said.
Scott added that the film will begin production proper this summer. "We start shooting GOON 2 in mid-June, and if everybody does their jobs and we execute the amazing script that Jay and his co-writer wrote, the fucking movie would be wicked."
The Jay he's referring to, of course, is Jay Baruchel, who penned the original film with Evan Goldberg. According to Empire, however, the sequel will likely see Baruchel co-writing with Jesse Chabot, while Goldberg has taken on a producing role. The film is once again set to be directed by Michael Dowse.
