A thief in Blackpool made international headlines after police revealed his photo and Friends fans around the world noticed his striking resemblance to David Schwimmer, who portrayed Ross Geller on the show. Now, the shoplifting lookalike has finally been arrested.
The Lancashire police department revealed this morning that a 36-year-old man had been arrested in London by the Metropolitan Police, even going so far as to thank Schwimmer for bringing attention to the case.
Once the photo of the thief went viral, Schwimmer recreated a video of the security footage shared by police — but because it was filmed in New York, he had a pretty solid alibi.

Following the appeal we posted looking for a man who resembles a well-known actor, we now have an update. Thanks to our colleagues @MetPoliceUK, a 36-year-old man was arrested in Southall last night on suspicion of theft. Thank you for the support, especially @DavidSchwimmer! pic.twitter.com/nOgF1KQb0X

Officers, I swear it wasn't me.

As you can see, I was in New York.
To the hardworking Blackpool Police, good luck with the investigation.#itwasntme pic.twitter.com/EDFF9dZoYR
