Next Christmas, we'll have a new film to sink our teeth into.
Robert Eggers's highly anticipated Nosferatu has finally received a release date, scheduled to arrive in theatres on Christmas Day 2024 via Focus Features.
Nosferatu is a remake of Werner Herzog's 1979 film Nosferatu the Vampyre (which was, of course, conceived as a stylistic remake of 1922's Nosferatu: A Symphony of Horror). Eggers's reimagining has been described as a "gothic tale of obsession between a haunted young woman and the terrifying vampire infatuated with her, causing untold horror in its wake," according to a press release.
Eggers's story will come to life through its stacked cast, which includes the likes of Bill Skarsgård, Nicholas Hoult, Lily-Rose Depp, Aaron-Taylor Johnson, Emma Corrin, Ralph Ineson, Simon McBurney and Willem Dafoe.
The director will also be reuniting with producer Chris Columbus for the film, marking their third collaboration after The Witch and The Lighthouse.
While you await the next holiday season, revisit our 8/10 review of Eggers's most recent film, The Northman.
