Netflix's live-action Avatar: The Last Airbender adaptation will officially get to finish its story, as the streaming giant has renewed the series for two more seasons.
Although Exclaim! labelled the show a "missed opportunity" in our review of the first season, we also conceded that the series as a whole feels "full of potential." Now, fans of both the adaptation and its animated predecessor will officially get to see if it can fulfill that expectation.
Since the first season followed the source material pretty closely, it's safe to assume that showrunner Albert Kim will wrap up the series by the end of Season 3, as was the case in the original show.
Netflix made the announcement in cruel fashion, tapping small-screen veteran Daniel Dae Kim to do their dirty work for them on a video call with the cast — Kim initially pretended the show had been cancelled, leading the young, mostly Canadian cast near tears before revealing the good news.
