Beloved Troma cult movie The Toxic Avenger is getting a new iteration, and the project is being overseen by genre darling Macon Blair.
Blair, who is best known for starring in Jeremy Saulnier films like Blue Ruin and Green Room, directed his first feature with the Netflix movie I Don't Feel at Home in This World Anymore in 2017. He'll write and direct the Toxic Avenger reboot, Variety reports.
The film is being made for Legendary Pictures, but Troma boss Lloyd Kaufman and his partner Michael Herz will produce alongside Legendary's Alex Garcia and Jay Ashenfelter.
The original 1984 Toxic Avenger followed the tale of a janitor who lands in a vat of toxic waste and reigns as a superhero that fights for justice. The film went on to launch multiple sequels, a television series and a Marvel comic.
At this point, it's unclear when Blair's Toxic Avenger film will see release.
