Ahead of its expected arrival this year, the Dexter revival has landed a familiar face in John Lithgow.

Deadline reports that Lithgow will make a "short but decisive appearance" in the forthcoming revival. The new limited series is expected to premiere on Showtime this fall.

In 2010, Lithgow captured both Emmy and Golden Globe awards for his run as Arthur Mitchell, the "Trinity Killer" who starred opposite Michael C. Hall's Dexter Morgan in the fourth season of the show's original run.

The site reports that revival writers have "have concocted a pathway for the Trinity Killer to come back that works within the larger Dexter narrative," though further details on his return are few.

As previously reported, Dexter's return — set 10 years after the finale of the original series — will also star Clancy Brown, Julia Jones, Michael Cyril Creighton, Alano Miller, Johnny Sequoyah, Jack Alcott, Jamie Chung and Oscar Wahlberg.

While the series has yet to receive a concrete release date, a recent teaser shows that Hall's killer character has assumed a new identity.
