Jared Hess and Jack Black Team Up for 'Micronations'

BY Josiah HughesPublished May 18, 2015

Jared Hess achieved a decent amount of success with his Napoleon Dynamite follow-up Nacho Libre, which starred comedian Jack Black. Those two will team up once again for a new film called Micronations.

The movie is based on the real-life concept of "micro nations" — American properties that have been declared their own independent countries by their owners.

"Once I learned that there were people within the United States who have created their very own countries, I knew I had to make a movie about them," Hess said. "Jack and I have been looking for another project to team up on, and the hilarious world of micronations spoke to both of us."

The film was written by Robert Snow and Christian Magalhaes, who both work for New Girl. It's being produced by Brant Anderson and Dave Hunter under their new company Buffalo Film, while Jack Black will also produce under his Electric Dynamite banner. Damon Ross is also a producer.

Stay tuned for more information on Micronations as it becomes available. Jared Hess' next film is Masterminds, which stars Kristen Wiig and Zach Galifianakis.
