Hopefully continuing his impressive roll of films, Denis Villeneuve's next big project is a remake of Frank Herbert's scifi novel Dune. The endeavour is enormously anticipated, and it's just gotten bigger as Villeneuve has confirmed that Dune will actually be two films.
Speaking with La Presse, Villeneuve confirmed that the 896-page novel has resulted in two movies. "Eric Roth wrote the first draft and I worked on my side afterwards," he said. "I have not had such fun on the creative side since Incendies! My wish would have been to make both films at the same time, but it will be too expensive. We will do them one at a time."
Villeneuve's Dune movies have not yet began production, but we'll keep you posted with more details as they become available.
