Sex Pistols are about to get their very own TV show, and it's set to arrive from Danny Boyle, who most recently brought us that movie about the one guy on earth who knew the Beatles' music.
The six-episode limited series is called Pistol and will focus on the experience of the band's guitarist, Steve Jones. In fact, it's based on Lonely Boy, Jones' Pistols memoir from 2018.
"Imagine breaking into the world of The Crown and Downton Abbey with your mates and screaming your songs and your fury at all they represent," Boyle said in a press release. "This is the moment that British society and culture changed forever. It is the detonation point for British street culture… where ordinary young people had the stage and vented their fury and their fashion… and everyone had to watch & listen… and everyone feared them or followed them. The Sex Pistols. At its centre was a young charming illiterate kleptomaniac — a hero for the times — Steve Jones, who became in his own words, the 94th greatest guitarist of all time. This is how he got there."
Babyteeth actor Toby Wallace will star as Jones, while Game of Thrones'' Maisie Williams will star as punk icon Jordan. The cast also includes Anson Boon (Crawl) as John Lydon, Louis Partridge (Enola Homes) as Sid Vicious, Jacob Slater as Paul Cook, Fabien Frankel (The Serpent) as Glen Matlock, Dylan Llewellyn (Derry Girls) as Wally Nightingale, Sydney Chandler (Don't Worry Darling) as Chrissie Hynde, and Emma Appleton (The Witcher) as Nancy Spungen.
Pistol will be released on FX.
