The 2023 Canadian Screen Awards took place over the past week, building up to the main ceremony last night (April 16). All of this year's winners have now been announced, with Brother and The Porter cleaning up as the night's big winners.

Brother won in 12 of the 14 categories it was nominated for — including Best Motion Picture. Clement Virgo earned Achievement in Direction, Lamar Johnson earned Performance in a Leading Role, and Aaron Pierre took home Performance in Support Role.

There were still a few prizes left for other films: I Like Movies took home Achievement in Editing, while Anthony Shim's script for Riceboy Sleeps won Original Screenplay.

On the TV side of things, The Porter earned Best Drama Series and Sort Of was the Best Comedy Series. The Porter was the biggest winner with 12 prizes (despite the show's recent cancellation), while Sort Of trailed close behind with seven. Sort Of's Bilal Baig won Best Lead Performer, Comedy, while Transplant's Hamza Haq won the same prize for a drama.

The Buffy Sainte-Marie documentary Carry It On won Best Direction for a documentary, as well as Best Sound for a doc.
