Have you ever heard of this movie called Star Wars: The Force Awakens? Maybe not... it's pretty obscure. Either way, J.J. Abrams' space epic is set to open this week, and stories both big and small continue to fly in. Did you know, for example, that ball-shaped droid BB-8 was partially voiced by an SNL alum?
As HitFix reports, lovable SNL cast member Bill Hader is credited in the film as a "BB-8 Vocal Consultant" alongside fellow comedian Ben Schwartz (a.k.a. Parks & Rec's Jean-Ralphio).
HitFix reached out to Hader, who explained just what exactly the "BB-8 Vocal Consultant" job entailed. Hader said his job consisted of "J.J. fucking around with this sound effects app on his iPad that was attached to a talk box operated by me. It looked ridiculous but it made BB-8's voice. At first I tried doing a voice, but we all agreed it sounded too human."
It's unclear just how much of Hader or Schwartz's final voices made the film, though Hader in particular is no stranger to amazing Star Wars sound effects. Watch him do some Star Wars impressions below.
