In addition to his face-contorting Trump impression on SNL, Alec Baldwin made some 2018 headlines for his real-life behaviour too. Baldwin was arrested following a fight over a parking spot, and while the actor initially denied any wrongdoing, he has now pleaded guilty to a harassment charge.
According to the Associated Press, Baldwin has said that the punch was reported "for the purposes of clickbait entertainment."
In a since-deleted tweet from the account of the Hilaria and Alec Baldwin Foundation, he added, "the assertion that I punched anyone over a parking spot is false. I wanted to go on the record stating as much."
As more details emerged from the incident, we've since learned that the 49-year-old male driver in the parking spot dispute told police that Baldwin hit him with his hand. It's unclear if it was a punch or a slap that the driver described.
According to Variety, Baldwin was sentenced to a conditional discharge today and will now take a short-term anger management class. He was charged with attempted assault in the third degree and harassment in the second degree, and pleaded guilty to the latter.
Baldwin is due back in court on March 27.
