Alamo Drafthouse to Offer Clown-Only Screening of 'IT'

BY Josiah HughesPublished Aug 25, 2017

This fall, scary clowns will officially be back in style with a proper film adaptation of Stephen King's IT. While the film hasn't sat well with some real-life clowns, the face-painted entertainers will have a special night of their own with an all-clown screening of the film.

If you think the stunt sounds familiar, that's because it's coming from the Alamo Drafthouse theatre in Austin, Texas — the same people who offered women-only screenings of Wonder Woman.

This time around, the cinema will host a screening of IT exclusively for people who identify as clowns. According to the official show listing, they'll offer a photo booth, a raffle and a makeup booth offering "touch-ups" for clown makeup. The whole thing goes down on September 5.

Of course, it's unlikely that anyone will find this screening too controversial. That's probably because the people who complained about the Wonder Woman screening are undoubtedly clowns.
