Tim Heidecker and Kurt Vile have joined forces on the final cut from the former's forthcoming new album High School, out June 24 on Spacebomb Records.
The track, which arrives alongside a video animated by Ben Levin, finds Heidecker in a "reflective mode, thinking about some of those awkward days in my high school days, feeling weird and learning about all the cool shit."
As for the Vile collab, Heidecker explained: "I wrote it thinking about how Kurt Vile writes songs and I was embarrassed to send it to him, but did anyway and he liked it enough to come over and sing and play on it!"
The meeting of minds is one of a few on the record, which includes additional contributions from Drew Erickson, Eric D. Johnson of Fruit Bats and Mac DeMarco, who provided the studio space for recording.
Heidecker will present his new tunes — like the previously released "Buddy" and "Punch in the Gut" — on a North American tour this summer. The trek includes two Canadian dates and a pledge from Heidecker that there will be no "anti[-]trans weirdo surprise guests."
