Tim Heidecker Shares New Song "Punch in the Gut"

The comedian's new album 'Highschool' is arriving June 24

Tim Heidecker has shared the latest single from his upcoming album High School, and it's a partial rumination on that tentpole of teenage drama — the schoolyard fight.

"Punch in the Gut" is another taste of High School's sunny soft-rock oeuvre, and according to Heidecker, it came about "while thinking about how Warren Zevon might approach a high school parking lot, high noon style showdown. But as I worked it, I recalled an incident where a friend of mine was visiting my school and was falsely accused of stealing. He was Black and it felt like profiling to me. There's a lot of him in the song 'Buddy' too."

"Buddy" was released last month. High School — which was produced by Heidecker, Drew Erickson, Eric D. Johnson and Mac DeMarco — arrives June 24 on Spacebomb Records.
