MLB fans have been glued to Aaron Judge's historic home run chase, as he aims to break the single-season home run record in the American League. Judge's incredible season has also resulted in a Toronto man becoming a minor TV celebrity, since late-night talk show hosts simply can't stop talking about his name: Frankie Lasagna.
On Wednesday (September 28), Judge and the New York Yankees were playing the Toronto Blue Jays at Rogers Centre. During the game, Judge hit his record-tying 61st home run, and Toronto restauranteur Lasagna nearly caught it from his seat in the left field stands. This led to Stephen Colbert, Jimmy Fallon and Jimmy Kimmel all making jokes about Lasagna's name.
In his Late Show monologue, Colbert said the name is "either the best name I've ever heard, or the worst alias in the history of the mob. 'Eyyy, I'm Frankie Lasagna. These are my associates: Mikey Pizza, Sal Calzone, and his cousin, Bobby Unlimited Bread Sticks.'"
Over at The Tonight Show, Jimmy Fallon said, "Frankie Lasanga sounds like a name you get from the Olive Garden witness protection program. Frankie Lasanga sounds like the name Robert De Niro check into hotels [with] to avoid paparazzi. Frankie Lasanga sounds like the name of Trump's next lawyer."
And on Jimmy Kimmel Live, the host actually interviewed another guy who nearly caught the ball, Kyle Mulligan, but the conversation inevitably turned to Lasagna. "What are the odds that a guy named Frankie Lasagne would not be from the Bronx?" Kimmel asked.

Lasanga operates the downtown restaurant Terrazza on Harbord Street. In an interview with Breakfast Television, Lasagna answered the question on everyone's mind: is Frankie Lasagna his real name? "To be truthful, my name isn't Frankie Lasagna," he said. "My name is Francesco Lasagna."
