It seems that Zeus picked the right name for their band because over the last couple of years, they've managed to achieve almost godlike status in the Toronto live music scene. Coming out on stage ready to rock, there wasn't a dull moment in their CMW set. With band members constantly switching out lead vocal and instrumental duties, their talent is immediately apparent, but there's also a bewilderingly magnetic quality that draws people into Zeus. Part Broken Social Scene, part 1970s stadium rock, their energy is infectious. Tunes from their debut LP Say Us like "The River by the Garden" had everyone singing along, while new material from new album Busting Visions, such as the fuzzed-out set closer "Are You Gonna Waste My Time?," whipped onlookers into a frenzy. These guys sound huge and act the part of arena rockers, so the intimate setting of the 'Shoe made the show feel like a special one.
