Young Magic brought all the right moves last night at the Red Bull Showcase. The Brooklyn duo began their energetic set with a lot of vibrant lights, silky reverb and smooth, airy electronics, which was enough to get the crowd hyped almost immediately. Donning an all-white jumpsuit, vocalist Melati Malay remained poised as she mesmerized the crowd with angelic vocals, projecting beautifully over the onslaught of lush percussion and atmospheric beats that had everyone either swooning or busting a move. The start of "Holographic" found Melati leave her guitar and jump on synth, keeping the dance party going with more entrancing bliss, as she danced along with the crowd and percussionist/beatsmith Isaac Emmanuel dug deeper into the sounds. The set ended with a dramatic swell of synths and distorted harmonies that left the room speechless, ending their celestial performance on one of the best notes of the festival thus far.
