The Wonder Years

Suburbia I've Given You All and Now I'm Nothing

Just in time for summer vacation, the Wonder Years have come out with what could be the season's standout pop punk record. Suburbia I've Given You All and Now I'm Nothing is the band's third full-length in just four years. It features explosive sing-along choruses that will make stuffy cars all that much hotter during summer road trips and legion halls heavy with humidity when they play the songs live. But for all the catchiness and feel-good rhythms, the band add a dose of introspective lyrics, tackling the consequences of life in the suburbs, a subject familiar to many of their fans. Arcade Fire might have recently written the most recognized reflection on the topic, but the Wonder Years do a fine job reflecting on the life of insecure 20somethings while leaving plenty of room for fist pumps and dancing.
