It's hard out there for a vampire these days, and Count Floyd (a.k.a. SCTV alum Joe Flaherty) is helping get the point across in the video for the Wet Secrets' bouncy Free Candy cut "Nightlife."
The Monster Chiller Horror Theatre host kicks off his night by renting a copy of Tweelight from the library, but seems pretty unimpressed with the uninspired romance flick for the undead. Floyd gives up on sinking his teeth into a bowl of popcorn, and instead he hits a goth club only to be given the short shrift from the bar staff once the tween bloodsuckers cut to the front of a drink line.
You can see the count cope with the younger generation in the video, which was directed by Wet Secrets drummer Trevor Anderson, down below.
In a statement, Flaherty had this to say of the video: "I liked the idea, I liked the song. I thought, 'This could be fun so I'll do it.' It seemed like a good gig for Count Floyd, to resurrect the old vampire. It was originally scheduled to shoot in September and I wish we'd done that. Shooting in Edmonton in December, it was cold. I couldn't believe it. The temperature kept dropping and dropping... As much as I liked the project, I couldn't wait to get out of there [laughs]. But I enjoyed doing it. Trevor made it very easy and that was great for an oldster like me. You want it to be easy and that's what it was."
As previously reported, Free Candy arrives independently on February 4. However, "Nightlife" will also appear on Wet Secrets' new free EP Nightlife/Knifefights, which is available now on Bandcamp.
