You can't dance to cock rock. You can bang your head and pump your first to it, but that's about it. Somewhere along the line, Montreal's We Are Wolves abandoned their dance-friendly sound in favour of muscle-infused new rock. Kicking off their Horseshoe set with the "Killing an Arab"-inspired "Paloma" -- a rapid-fire success -- proved deceptive as the trio quickly devolved into Queens of the Stone Age-style coiled aggression. Older tracks fared better, largely thanks to Vincent Levesque's spry keys and Antonin Marquis's hammering drums. Ultimately, though, melodrama dominated the gig. Still, there was plenty of fist-pumping; that's something.
