The D'Urbervilles's John O'Regan, aka Diamond Rings, has the one-man-and-a-canned-band act down to an art. A pop star in waiting, O'Regan has a hugely compelling onstage presence. Arriving in an androgynous proletarian getup, featuring trademark eyeliner and a one-off hardhat, his aesthetic and sound are enthrallingly incongruent. Mixing up his heartfelt pop with keys, drum machines, an occasional guitar and Elaine Benes-style dancing, O'Regan played an impressively diverse set. Oh, and closing cut "All Yr Songs," with its easy, danceable hook, charming lyrics and laid-back delivery, will be an indie-kid mixtape staple.
