Like many of us, Neil Young has loads more time on his hands now that he's not doomscrolling X (formerly Twitter). He's just released a new music video called "Stand for Peace" which is essentially just him ripping "The Star-Spangled Banner" on electric guitar.

While standing on a platform, Young plays a vocal-free rendition of the American National Anthem that's drenched in overdrive. A mirrorball spins around the empty room, and the phrases "be brave" and "stand for peace" crawl across the screen at the end. Watch the video directed by Daryl Hannah — Young's wife — below.

While he didn't specify where his vague call for peace is directed, he referenced the Israel-Hamas war when he decided to leave Twitter X. "For our many Palestinian friends and our many Jewish friends, we do need to start over in the present and release our terrible connections to the past," he wrote.

We wonder if he shredded "O Canada" at his secret Toronto show earlier this month — though us plebs still know very little about it.
