As Neil Young teases a 2024 summer tour, he apparently played an ultra-secret show with Crazy Horse at the Rivoli in Toronto.
According to a report from Neil Young fan site Thrashers Wheat, Young played the Queen Street West venue last Saturday (November 4). A fan named Stu gave an account of attempting to get into the show, which appeared to be a private birthday party for a wealthy local. The theme of the party was "age before beauty," which explains why Young's set was reportedly followed by one from Arkells.
Rolling Stone reports that the host was Canada Goose CEO Dani Reiss.
According to the report from Thrashers Wheat, the party host didn't tell guests what was going to happen, so they showed up to discover they were attending a private Neil Young concert.
The source provided a photo of Young exiting the back door of the Rivoli next to a truck full of gear. The setlist is said to have included all of 1990's Ragged Glory album, plus "Cinnamon Girl" and "Rockin' in the Free World."
The Rivoli's venue, which is located at the back of the bar and restaurant, has a standing room capacity of 240 and a seated capacity of 200. Exclaim! has reached out to the venue for comment.
