The way Kate Bush's "Running Up That Hill (A Deal with God)" raced its way up the charts in 2022 on the strength of its Stranger Things sync clearly left an impression on My Morning Jacket, who took time to cover the song as part of their set at Bonnaroo 2023.
You can watch MMJ perform Bush's hit in the player below, turning in a solid cover that doesn't stray too far from the original, while playing to their strength as masters of groove.
The band's Saturday performance (June 16) at the Tennessee-based fest also saw them cover Traffic's "Feelin' Alright?" and pay tribute to late Fleetwood Mac keyboardist/vocalist Christine McVie, with frontman Jim James singing lyrics from the artist's "Songbird" during the performance of their original "Phone Went West."
Though it remains to be seen if they'll keep the Kate Bush cover in the set, My Morning Jacket will celebrate 20 years of their album It Still Moves on a North American anniversary tour.
