Since she started helming her own talk show in 2019, Kelly Clarkson has been best known for covering — and subsequently claiming — other artists' songs.

Yesterday, she changed gears, inviting Alanis Morissette to duet with her on snippets of a number of Morissette's CanCon classics for a series labelled Songs & Stories.

For her part, Morissette has been on what seems like a world tour of duets after performing with P!nk on stage in L.A. and Dave Grohl in Tokyo

Of course, in accordance with the series' name, Clarkson and Morissette swapped stories before each performance, resulting in Morissette revealing that her music is particularly impactful to divorcees.

"After 'You Oughta Know' was released, [my landlord] ran into me, and she said: 'I just have to tell you that I didn't like your music when it first came out, and then I got divorced, and now I love you,'" Morissette laughed.

The pair started with 2002's "Hands Clean" and "Thank You" before getting into the meat and potatoes of Morissette's discography with "Ironic" and their closing number "You Oughta Know."

Clarkson, a self-proclaimed "super fan" of Morissette, seemed content to take a backseat to her guest and simply provide harmonies across all four covers. Check it out below.
