Denmark's Volbeat are just one of those bands that you can't help but enjoy listening to. They fuse classic heavy metal and rockabilly in a way that's both modern yet timeless, making them a difficult band to categorize, but incredibly easy to fall in love with. Their songs capture their Elvis Presley and Johnny Cash influences, combined with Motörhead's heaviness and the Misfits' punk rock style while somehow maintaining their original sound. Volbeat's latest release, Guitar Gangsters & Cadillac Blood, is yet another masterpiece full of well-written, catchy, metal-tinged rock'n'roll. Vocalist/guitarist Michael Poulsen brings tons of blues-inspired soul to the band, while upholding a distinctly James Hetfield-esque front-man presence on tunes like "Back to Prom" and "Maybellene I Hofteholder." The Danish lads also pay homage to '50s country music on this record with a metalled-up version of "I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry," originally by Hank Williams Sr.
