Toronto's Venus Fest Unveils 2019 Lineup with the Vaselines, Charlotte Cardin, Tei Shi

Once again, Venus Fest is set to take over Toronto, and the lineup for the third annual event has just been announced.

Venus Fest 2019 will take place at Toronto's the Opera House from September 20 to 22, with the three-day event boasting not only music performances but art installations, free workshops and a number of all-ages events.

On the musical front, this year's lineup is led by Scottish indie-pop heroes the Vaselines, followed by Charlotte Cardin, the Weather Station, Tei Shi, Fiver and more.

For the unfamiliar, organizers explain Venus Fest with the following:

Numerous studies have proved that businesses thrive in unprecedented ways when there are women in leadership positions. However, in the arts sector and particularly in music, women continue to be nearly absent. Change has started to appear onstage with many festivals and promoters looking to book more women and non-binary artists, but further transformation is necessary in the music industry as a whole, so that representation is built into the fabric of the organization itself.

In a statement, Venus Fest founder Aerin Fogel adds, "Venus Fest is held by a team that understands the need for this festival, from a personal standpoint. We are making decisions that account for, and correct, our history and experience. Our industry will remain fractured until every music organization is working with underrepresented people who have the wisdom that comes from that deeply personal place."

Single night tickets cost $25 plus tax and service fees, while wristbands will run you $55. The workshops, meanwhile, are free and subject to capacity. You can learn more about ticketing and the event at the Venus Fest website.
