Forward March

BY Skip ViitalaPublished Nov 1, 2001

This compilation is more laid back and traditional in nature, mainly featuring American groups but there are a few notables from Europe as well. Dabbling in ska, rock steady and reggae, this release has some high points but also a few low ones. For instance, I could have done without hearing the soulless reggae of the Mot!ves Project but the more skankin' tracks from the likes of the Kingston 10 and the Delroys more than make up for that. Add some Canadian ska from General Rudie and you've got one of the best comps to be released recently in this vein.
