Vancouver producer Howard Redekopp has made a name for himself by working behind the boards for Tegan and Sara, Mother Mother, the New Pornographers, Said the Whale and more. Now, he has launched his very own label.
The label has the punny name How Weird Sounds, and it's officially launching next month with its debut release: Live Wires, Black Sheep by Vancouver rockers Loose Fang, out September 25. The second signing is Vancouver singer-songwriter Quinn Pickering, who will release an EP through the label later in 2020.
"Loose Fang's record Live Wires, Black Sheep is the most fitting flagship release for the label," Redekopp said in a statement. "The songs are fantastic, it has huge character, it was recorded in the most honest way — largely live — and it really sounds like something that no other combination of humans could ever have come to sound like."
Meanwhile, Redekopp is still producing non-label releases. Recent Instagram images have showed that he is currently producing Mother Mother's upcoming eighth album.
