Mother Mother Revisit Early Trio Recordings with 'Mother' EP

It contains four songs cut from 2007's 'Touch Up'

Before Mother Mother, the band's founding members were a trio simply named Mother — and now they're throwing back to those early days by releasing an EP titled Mother.

The Mother EP contains six songs (plus a short intro), including the original versions of "Dirty Town" and "Oh Ana," which subsequently appeared on Mother Mother's 2007 debut Touch Up.

The songs "Fat Kids," "Babies," "Mamma Told Me" and "Home Recording" appeared on the original Mother album but were cut by the time they got to Touch Up. This version of the band features Ryan Guldemond on vocals and guitar, along with singers Molly Guldemond and (since-departed member) Debra-Jean Creelman.

The EP came out last Friday (September 27). Hear it below.

Earlier this year, Hey Ocean! bassist David Vertesi told Exclaim! that 2005's Mother CD is the hidden gem of his record collection.
