Usher

"Love In This Club" (Featuring Young Jeezy)

BY Cam LindsayPublished Jan 8, 2009

From now until January 13, I'll be featuring my favourite tracks of 2008, some of which have already appeared in Click Hear throughout the year, some of which haven't.

He says he's "doin' it for tha ladies," but every time I heard Usher's club-busting anthem in 2008 I always felt he was doing it just as much for "tha fellas." It's not like anyone aside from Usher is makin' much love in any clubs, but damn, living vicariously through Usher Raymond's lyrics is pretty satisfying as it is.

From the orgasmic fluttering of the delay on the opening guitar, this is a beast of a club anthem. I remember when it first appeared, people were saying it was no "Yeah!" and I agree: that was an adrenaline-pumping banger. "Love In This Club" is a matured stab at taking things to the dance floor, as our host takes it nice and mid-tempo, letting the escalating synths and gang-chanted "eh" get the blood racing - not to mention rooting for Usher to master his domain.

And see the video below. Anyone who thought JT had stolen his throne, well, check out the moves he breaks out at the 4:40 mark. Man, oh man, he's smooth.
