United State of Electronica

"Emerald City"

Anyone seeking a cure for the blues of Daft Punk’s shockingly substandard third album should find it in this Seattle-based act. A full seven-piece band that create music most often heard by the likes of two European DJs, United State of Electronica nick the best bits of the genre to build a top-notch dance party. The best thing about "Emerald City” is its nobility in bringing back the vocoder. Equal parts Junior Senior, Daft Punk’s "Digital Love” and even Eiffel 65’s "Blue,” the tune proves that United State of Electronica is a shamelessly fun band with enough indie cred and carefree enthusiasm to wipe away those suspicions of the ’90s-era Euro disco acts who once ruled the charts.
