South African singer-songwriter Tyla, who won this year's inaugural Best African Performance Grammy for her sensual smash "Water," has announced that she has to cancel her world tour due to an unspecified injury.
She took to Instagram today to share the news, writing, “For the past year I’ve been silently suffering with an injury that has tragically worsened. I’ve seen doctors and specialists with high hopes, but the pain has only become more agonizing as has the severity of the situation.”
“I am absolutely heartbroken to have to say this but as of right now I won’t be able to proceed with the tour,” the artist continued. “In consulting with medical professionals it’s become increasingly clear that continuing any festival or tour dates would jeopardize my long-term health and safety.”
Tyla had scheduled Canadian shows in Vancouver and Toronto this spring, in addition to an appearance at Coachella. She noted that she's “working diligently on a spectacular show" and is hoping to be stage-ready again by this summer, which means she hopefully might still be able to perform at Osheaga in August.
