The Two Koreas

The Two Koreas don’t cut a wide stylistic swath, but the band work their well-chosen Pavement-meets-Fall territory with aplomb and, on this particular night, with energy and confident swagger to spare. Collective decades of avid concert-going (the band is peopled with veteran music journos) has made the 2Ks well aware of the elements of a solid performance, evident as the quintet rocked through a tempo-tweaked set of catchy, driving originals, many of then elongated and fused together, resulting in a Stereolab-like groove that both belied and complemented the performance’s prevailing rock’n’roll essence.
